Nearly half of adult Filipinos expect their quality of life to improve in the next six months, according to a recent survey conducted by the OCTA Research group.

The poll, which was conducted from Dec. 10 to 14, 2023, showed that about 49 percent of the respondents are optimistic that their quality of life will improve over the next six months, up by 15 percentage points from 49 percent recorded in October 2023.

Meanwhile, some 45 percent said their quality of life will stay the same, and only 4 percent expect it to worsen in the next six months.

The number of those who expect their lives to worsen decreased by three points from 7 percent in October 2023.

Across areas, the percentage of Filipinos who think that their quality of life will improve was highest among respondents in Visayas at 58 percent, and the lowest in Mindanao at 40 percent.

The same survey also found that about 38 percent of adult Filipinos believe that the Philippine economy will improve over the next six months.

OCTA said this is the “first time in three quarters” that a recovery in this data point was observed.

“Optimism regarding the country’s economy among adult Filipinos increased from 27 percent in October 2023 to 38 percent in December 2023,” OCTA said.

The survey showed that 51 percent said the economy will remain the same, while 8 percent believe it will worsen.

Across major areas, the highest percentage of Filipinos who anticipate improvement in the Philippine economy over the next six months is in Visayas at 53 percent, and the lowest is in Balance Luzon at 30 percent.

“The latest optimism regarding the Philippine economy among adult Filipinos increased in all major areas compared to October 2023,” OCTA said.

OCTA’s Tugon ng Masa survey had 1,200 respondents and a ±3 percent margin of error at a 95 percent confidence level. (PNA)
