A local dance group from Tandag City, Surigao del Sur, is set to compete for the crown at the World Supremacy Battlegrounds (WSB) Asia X Home Group 2024 in Singapore.

“Our team is given a chance to represent our province, Surigao del Sur, and the country to compete in this international street dance competition in Singapore,” the group D’NextPlay Cru said in a statement Thursday.

The international street dance championship will be held at *SCAPE The Ground Theatre in Singapore from Jan. 26 to 28.

The local hip-hop group, composed of 12 members, also expressed optimism about winning the crown as they take pride in representing their province and the country.

On April 15 last year, the D’NextPlay Cru won first place during the WSB Asia held at the University of Southern Philippines Foundation in Cebu City.

“The World Supremacy Battlegrounds Asia X Home Group 2024 is an innovative street dance competition and is seen to redefine the dance landscape in Southeast Asia,” the *SCAPE management said in a separate statement.

It added that the upcoming event promises an unparalleled celebration of culture, creativity, and competition.

Dance groups from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, the Philippines, Nepal, India, Malaysia, and Indonesia are expected to join the three-day competition, coinciding with the start of Singapore Art Week 2024. (PNA)
