Families affected by the combined effects of the southwest monsoon (habagat) and tropical cyclones Mirasol and Nando have reached 28,014 as of Monday morning.

In its latest situation report, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said the affected families are equivalent to 100,024 persons residing in 181 barangays in the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsula.

As of the time of the report, 187 families are being sheltered inside 10 evacuation centers, while another 173 are temporarily staying in other places, the NDRRMC said.

The NDRRMC also said it is validating reports of two deaths and two injured, along with five missing persons — four in Central Luzon and one in Bicol — as a result of the inclement weather.

In its 11 a.m. bulletin on Monday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 5 is hoisted over Babuyan Islands due to Nando, which has already reached super typhoon category.

It also said the center of the eye of Nando (international name Ragasa) was estimated at 110 km. east of Calayan, Cagayan.

Moving westward at 20 km. per hour (kph), Nando is packing maximum sustained winds of 215 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 265 kph, according to PAGASA. (PNA)
