The Northern Samar provincial government hired 268 individuals from vulnerable sectors and recent graduates for short-term employment, giving them practical work experience while serving the community.

The 10-day program engaged 15 out-of-school youth in clerical and administrative tasks, 57 education graduates in reading and numeracy sessions in public schools, and 16 accounting graduates and bookkeepers assisting cooperatives with financial documentation, according to a press statement released on Friday.

Twenty-three agriculture graduates were deployed to municipal agriculture offices, while 23 persons with disabilities, 17 solo parents, and 28 economically disadvantaged or abused women provided clerical and child-care support.

Another 89 unemployed individuals worked as farm laborers.

The program is a joint effort of the provincial government and the Department of Labor and Employment combining short-term employment with meaningful community service.

“Beyond providing temporary income, the initiative aimed to build confidence, productivity, and social responsibility among beneficiaries by aligning work assignments with their skills and interests, contributing to both personal development and community growth,” the provincial government said.
