The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is considering to put up digital kiosks in future OFW Serbisyo Caravans to increase service capacity, after nearly a thousand workers were served over the weekend in Saudi Arabia.

In a news release Sunday, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said the planned digital government service kiosks would supplement face-to-face transactions.

This, following the seventh leg of the OFW caravan in Al Khobar, held from Aug. 15 to 16, which benefitted about 980 OFWs and delivered 4,492 government services.

It was held after the Jeddah leg slated from Aug. 8 to 9, where 4,047 government transactions were delivered to about 1,263 OFWs.

Cacdac said these events reflect President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to bring government services closer to Filipinos abroad, while citing the strong support of First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, concerned government line agencies, and the Filipino community groups across Saudi Arabia.

Since its launch in Hong Kong last June, the Bagong Bayani ng Mundo: OFW Serbisyo Caravan has been held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Osaka, Japan; Doha, Qatar; Dubai, UAE; and in Jeddah and Al Khobar, both in Saudi Arabia.

It has so far served a total of 11,545 OFWs with 29,044 transactions.

The Serbisyo Caravan is being done under the administration’s One Country Team Approach, which is a whole-of-government strategy for overseas Filipinos.

Among the most sought-after services are the issuance of Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) E-cards, national IDs, and civil registry documents such as birth, marriage, death certificates, and Certificates of No Marriage Record. (PNA)
