The Northern Samar provincial government released on Wednesday a total of PHP1.33 million in stipends and allowances to 31 nursing scholars as part of its continuing commitment to support the province’s future healthcare workforce.

Each scholar received PHP43,000 covering stipend, book and uniform allowances, which are intended to help defray expenses as they enter the second semester of academic year 2025–2026.

The provincial government said the release of benefits in the first week of the year underscores the local government’s sustained support for the scholars’ education.

“Apart from the allowances directly given to the students, the provincial government also shoulders the scholars’ related learning expenses, which are paid to partner schools upon compliance with documentary requirements,” the provincial government said.

The nursing scholarship program seeks to strengthen health service delivery in Northern Samar by supporting the education of local students who will eventually serve in the province’s public hospitals after passing the nursing licensure examinations.

Scholars are expected to provide updates on their academic progress, share good practices, and encourage fellow scholars on effective financial and academic management.

The exchange was facilitated by the provincial government of Northern Samar Nursing Scholarship Program Technical Working Group. (PNA)
