Fire response operations in Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City, were disrupted on January 15, 2026, after a motorcycle rider blocked a fire truck responding to an emergency, according to authorities.

The incident drew public attention after a video circulated online showing the fire truck repeatedly sounding its horn and issuing verbal warnings, yet struggling to move forward as a motorcycle remained directly in its path. The obstruction reportedly delayed the fire station’s response to the incident.

Uploaded by Karl Bustamante, the video showed the fire truck attempting to push through the road while the motorcycle continued to block its way, sparking concern over public safety and emergency response delays.

The Land Transportation Office–Negros Island Region (LTO-NIR) later identified the rider involved. Initial findings showed that the individual was allegedly not the registered owner of the motorcycle and was also without a valid driver’s license.

Following the incident, the LTO-NIR issued show-cause orders to both the registered owner of the motorcycle and the rider seen in the video. The agency said this move is part of its investigation into possible violations of traffic and transport regulations.

Authorities reiterated the importance of giving way to emergency vehicles, warning that any obstruction can delay response efforts and potentially endanger lives and property.
