Senator Loren Legarda has filed her first 10 priority bills for the 20th Congress, covering education, livelihood, environmental sustainability and social protection for vulnerable sectors.

The measures seek to address urgent needs across multiple sectors, including digital access for students, small business support, climate action, and the protection of women, children, seniors, and informal workers.

“We prioritized these bills as we believe they are timely and that we must act on them immediately to address the pressing needs of our society,” Legarda said in a news release Tuesday.

Among the key proposals are the One Tablet, One Student Act to promote digital inclusion, the “Pangkabuhayan” (Livelihood) Act to assist micro and small enterprises, and the Living Wage Act to guarantee fair compensation for Filipino workers.

Other measures are the Unpaid Care Workers Equity and Empowerment Act, Magna Carta of Waste Workers, Low Carbon Economy Act, and Blue Economy Act, which supports the sustainable management of marine resources.

“These measures aim to uplift the lives of Filipinos, particularly the marginalized and vulnerable, while advancing a future that is just, equitable and sustainable,” Legarda, a long-time climate advocate, said.

Also included in her priority list are the Monthly Maintenance Medication Support for Senior Citizens Act, Women and Children Protection Units Act, and the Complementarity in Education Act to strengthen public-private collaboration in education. (PNA)
