The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation is encouraging members to use its Yaman ng Kalusugan Program for free consultations and up to PHP20,000 in annual medicine benefits, even when they are not sick.

“We encourage our members to avail of the services not just when they are sick and not feeling well but also when they are okay to ensure that they will continue to be well,” said Magnolia del Rosario, PhilHealth-Cordillera information officer, in a media interview on Tuesday.

The YAKAP program, an upgrade from the previous Konsulta package, provides free check-ups, essential diagnostics, and medicines from 75 categories—including antibiotics, anti-hypertensives, and anti-diabetics—through accredited centers and pharmacies.

Members can receive a prescription from an accredited YAKAP center physician and obtain the medicines for free from any of the 304 accredited pharmacies nationwide, including 20 in the Cordillera region.

Del Rosario emphasized the program is a wellness package that does not require hospitalization, aiming to promote preventive care and reduce future hospitalizations. (PNA)
